Mentality evaluation

To evaluate the mentality of our breeding we use Mentality Descriptions. Every year we organize mentality descriptions at the Working Canine Club so that as many of the dogs from our breeding gets the chance to do this.

So far 28 dogs out of our breeding are Mentality Descripted, that is 65%. Thank you to all our all owners for letting their dog become mentality descripted, we would never had the chance to do this without you!

In our breeding our goal for the mentality is curious and courageous dogs with high sociability and low aggressivity. Through the Mentality Descriptions we get the tool to estimate how we achieve these goals. The diagrams below show our dogs' results as well as the breed's value. The scores are on a scale from 1-5.

The Stafford as a breed has great scores. Below are presented the results of dogs after our two different bitches and the scores of all dogs bred by us in relationship to the breed's scores.

Since the scaling is 1-5 even small differences should be relevant.

At Curiousity/courage children and grandchildren after Vega has +0.5 in relationship to the breed's middle value, and 0.3 at Playfulness.

Even hunt interest is +0.5 higher.

Aggressivity is lower and is at -0.6 in relationship to the breed's values, and sociability is at -0.2.

We are very pleased with the results, but want to increase the sociability.,

At Sociability Tekla's children and grandchildren scores marginally above the breed's middle value with +0.1. Curiosity/courage is marginally below with -0.1.

Aggressivity is -0.5 lower than the breed's middle, and Playfulness is -0.2. Even Hunt interest is -0.5.

We are happy with the results but want to continue breeding towards higher Curiousity/courage and playfulness.

Combined the diagram for all of our breeding looks like following:

The combined results from all our breeding hold no large differences from the breed's middle values. On Aggressivity we have -0.5, and on Curiousity/Courage we score +0-2.

We are very happy with these results.

To summarize, I think we have great scores both in relationship to the breed's middle scores and in our own goals. There are always things to do better but it is very satisfying to see that we have more that we want to keep than we want to change!

Again, thank you to all of our wonderful owners who have made this possible to us!
